A straightforward read on what’s inside, where each oil comes from, and why each one earns a place in this blend.
Cosmetic body oil only. Not a sunscreen. No SPF or UV protection. External use only.
Our formula is intentionally narrow: four botanical oils and vitamin E. The goal is skin comfort, smooth application,
and warm-looking radiance—without fragrance, essential oils, or noisy ingredient padding.
Olive Oil Olea europaea
In this product: Builds a rich moisture base so skin feels soft, supple, and tan-ready.
Plant origin: Pressed from olive fruit, historically cultivated across the Mediterranean.
History of use: Long before modern skincare had labels and marketing copy, olive oil was already part of everyday body care in Mediterranean life. After salt water, wind, and long afternoons in the sun, people used what they had close at hand: oil pressed from fruit grown in nearby groves. It moved between kitchen and bathhouse, practical and unceremonious, used to soften dry skin and bring comfort back after heat and exposure.
Why we use it: It gives body and conditioning to the blend, especially when skin feels dry after sun and salt air.
Jojoba Oil Simmondsia chinensis
In this product: Adds lighter-feeling hydration and improves spread for a smoother finish.
Plant origin: Derived from seeds of the jojoba shrub, native to the American Southwest and northern Mexico.
History of use: In arid regions of the American Southwest and northern Mexico, jojoba earned its place through reliability. Communities valued it as a practical skin and hair oil that held up in demanding climates—dry air, strong sun, and big swings in temperature. Where heavier oils could feel suffocating or degrade quickly, jojoba stayed stable and wearable, making it a quiet workhorse in day-to-day care rather than a luxury ingredient used only on occasion.
Why we use it: It balances richer oils so the blend feels more polished and less heavy on skin.
Avocado Oil Persea gratissima
In this product: Helps prevent dry, tight post-sun feel and leaves skin comfortable.
Plant origin: Pressed from avocado fruit, with cultivation roots in Mesoamerica.
History of use: Across Central and South America, avocado was more than a food crop; its oil also found a place in practical skin care. In hot climates and after long days outdoors, it was used as a replenishing oil to ease that tight, depleted feeling skin gets from sun and dry air. Its value came from consistency: rich enough to restore comfort, familiar enough to be used regularly, and gentle enough to fit into everyday routines without complication.
Why we use it: It adds cushion and emollience so skin keeps a healthy-looking finish through long summer days.
Buriti Oil Mauritia flexuosa
In this product: Naturally carotenoid-rich oil that supports warm, golden-looking radiance.
Plant origin: Extracted from buriti palm fruit native to South American wetland ecosystems.
History of use: In Amazonian regions, buriti oil developed a reputation for both its vivid natural color and the way it left skin looking revived. Rather than serving as a novelty, it was treated as a functional body oil people reached for when skin looked tired from heat and environmental exposure. Over time it became associated with a healthy, warm-looking finish—less about spectacle and more about restoring radiance after long days under intense sun.
Why we use it: It is the signature glow note in the blend and central to SUMMERHOME’s visual finish.
Note: allow full absorption before dressing in very light fabrics.
